Build a process worth repeating.
Practical foundations for risk-aware trading. Educational material, not personalized financial advice or a promise of performance.
01 — Start with loss capacity
Before choosing a position size, calculate how much equity can fall before the tighter of your daily and maximum loss floors. Include open-position exposure, fees and correlated instruments. A simulated account allocation is not a sensible risk budget on its own.
Keep a written pre-trade checklist: market session, event risk, stop condition, aggregate exposure and the reason for entering. Review deviations before increasing risk.
02 — Separate realized and floating results
Balance reflects completed trading outcomes. Equity adds current floating P&L and applicable costs. A profit target based on realized balance can remain unmet even while equity is temporarily above it. Drawdown can breach while open positions are losing.
03 — Review your distribution, not your best day
Consistency rules compare your best day to total realized profit. A single large day can mask a fragile process. Journal the setup, risk, execution and rule compliance for each session rather than selecting only winning trades.
04 — Practice the operational journey
Use free practice and the protected simulator to learn how targets, phase changes, stale-data review and payout reservations behave. These scenarios teach application behavior; they do not forecast a strategy’s profitability.
